Form 4868 is a tax extension for individuals. This
includes all 1040 individuals, 1099 contractors, single
member LLCs and Schedule C Sole Proprietors. File an
individual tax extension and extend your Idaho state tax
deadline to October 15 for forms:
- 1040
- 1040A
- 1040EZ
- 1040NR
- Or 1040NR-EZ returns.
There are three options available to file Idaho state
tax extension Form 4868, Application For Automatic
Extension of Time To File U.S. Individual Tax Return,
Electronically by computer, OR by paying a part of your
due tax by credit card through and outside service
provider listed on the form, OR by mail. If you file
your Idaho tax extension form 4868 electronically you
will receive an acknowledgement or confirmation number
for your records and you do not need to send in Form
4868. If you need to pay additional taxes, you may do so
through the outside service provider or through e-file.

hazardous duty area.
Rules for Filing Federal Tax
Extension
- Idaho tax extensions form must be filed by April
15th.
- If you are due a tax refund, it is not necessary to
file an Idaho tax extension. There is no penalty for
late filing unless you owe the IRS.
- If you electronically file your return on April 15
and the IRS sends it back for corrections, you have
until April 20 to get your return retransmitted and
accepted by the IRS.
- You must still pay at least 90% of your total tax
due by April 16th in order to avoid penalties for late
payment.
- Retain the paper copy of Form 4868. Once you file
your Federal tax extension online, there is no need to
mail the paper copy.
- You must file the federal income tax extension
before the deadline to file taxes, April 15. You can not
file a federal income tax extension after that date.
